In this primary source written by Mathew Carey, he describes the way a husband should treat a women. He states that a women should be respected, and left alone with her domestic duties. At the first read through, it seems very fair, until you begin to realize that the only work she is doing is inside the house. It is also very condescending in some parts, like when he talks about obeying her "reasonable requests", as if not everything she wants is okay with him. It also talks about how she must obey him, and "comply with his wishes". About half way through the list, the tone changes and begins to resemble what the men probably actually wanted. And the fact that this was written by a man changes it entirely. He doesn't know what the women want. He is biased.
The significance of this document though is that it shows what women of this time had to deal with. They were ordered around and trodden upon. It looked like they had some rights and fair treatment, but they really didn't. The woman during this time didn't stand up to her husband, she didn't tell him what to do, and she only did what she was told. It is a stark reminder of how things used to be for us women.

This document shows the major Indian tribes that had to surrender their land to the American government. These Indians were being moved because Americans wanted to possess these lands because many believed it was God's will for Americans to expand across the continent. For Americans to do so they had to invade the Indians' territory. This caused a few small wars but overall Indians weren't able to win their territory back.
